Richard Pinhas recorded seven influential albums as the leader of the French space-rock pioneers Heldon in the 1970s, with five more solo records before retiring from music for six years in 1982. Since getting back into shape in the 1990s, he has been prolific, collaborating with such luminaries as Merzbow, Yoshida Tatsuya, Oren Ambarchi, Barry Cleveland and Wolf Eyes.
“The changes in my life really influenced this record,” says Richard Pinhas about his new album Reverse. He speaks with good humor about his serious debut. “The wife of a friend of mine offered to read my tarot cards. I had never done it before and I accepted jokingly, because I was curious. And I had the worst possible reading. I don’t believe in it – I’m very materialistic, not financially but in my philosophy – so it was very strange that the following year I lost both my parents, separated from my girlfriend, lost my apartment and moved to Nantes. So the album was made in this confusion, in this chaotic state of having all these things”.
The dark experimental sound of Reverse and its long, repetitive tracks make a daunting first impression. But listening to the entire 50 minutes, one feels purified. Pinhas even says that this album has “repaired” and “resurrected” him. The original title was “@Last” because it was my last album. But when I got better, I said, “Well, we’re going to go back,” he laughs. “It was a healing process for me to make this album. To get rid of all the negativity that was going on in my brain. But that’s all behind me now.

ARME ANTIROCK MISSILE ENSEMBLE
AntiRock Missile Ensemble is a contemporary rock music ensemble whose aim is to create pieces at the crossroads of post-rock and what is called symphonic rock: music based on scores or direction. ARME works with graphic scores composed of signs (drawings and music), the instrumentarium is composed of the classic power trio bass, drums guitar but increased by the number of musicians that make up the variable geometry ensemble. The music is constructed as a symphonic form structured by movements while manipulating the writing and concepts derived from deconstructed rock and noise rock.

TROMBE
TROMBE is a Sax Batterie duo since 2015 (Nantes region).
TROMBE is a sax with no artifice or pedal, inhabited by dark atmospheres coupled with a lively drum set as fiery as it is applied.
TROMBE alternates fiery fever, strange whispers, wacky frenzy and iconoclastic atmospheres. They record as a tightrope walker in February 2018 between the kitchen and the drummer’s living room and finally decide to release some of these pre-pruned buds as vinyl.
Trombe is like a rose petal that flies towards the approaching hurricane that reminds you of your ancestors, but the good ones who fall when they stumble.
Trombe falls, crawls, and rises again in a series of jolts and incoherent melodic spasms.
