Friday May 24th: Plateforme Intermédia, 8:30 pm

ORGONE PLAYS LES SUBTILISÉS (Jean Grimault & Coralie Fontanel)

Saturday, May 25th: Les Ateliers de Bitche, 8:30 pm

  • Orgone

Large set of contemporary percussions from Nantes.
Orgone is a percussion ensemble in Nantes and in the region.
Open group practice of contemporary percussion.
Orgone is a hypothetical energy discovered by the psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich and repeated in several books by the poet William Burroughs. This is for Orgone to create a space dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary percussion pieces at the limit of the genre.

There is no indication of the level of percussionists but rather to have an interest in playing in experimental percussion group and be ready to interpret graphic scores or to follow a direction with particular modes of play .

The composers: Z’EV, Jason Kahn, John Cage, Earle Brown, James Tenney, Jerome Joy, Burkhard Beins, Cornelius Cardew, Karlheinz Stockhausen, D’incice, Julien Ottavi.

  • Camille Emaille

It hisses and it sings, it rubs and it sounds, it scolds or it grooves, it vibrates, it lives: on a thread or in an echo, between the gongs and the drums, the cymbals and the skins, the performances of the percussionist Camille Emaille’s balancing act as much as sound sculpture. It is an architecture at once precarious and spectacular which is knotted there, a tenuous and tense dramaturgy which is played there, body-to-body slender and animal with a sound material in fusion that kneads or activates. When she does not devote herself to the music written by our contemporaries (from Cage and Scelsi to Sciarrino, Eötvös or John Zorn), between a “wild concert” given with the collective # and one of her many collaborations, this past musician by the Musik Akademie Basel and Mills College Oakland indulge in improvisations of a freedom necessarily – but highly singular.

  • Gert-Jan Prins

Gert-Jan Prins focuses on the sonic and musical qualities of electronic noise and percussion and investigates its relationship with the visual.
while he started his career as a drummer, his works include performances, sound-installations, compositions, electronic circuits
and collaborations with other musicians, visual artists, composers, and dancers.
